I, the author, Sam Aberle, am happy you’re here. I live on the outskirts of Menomonie, Wisconsin. At the time of this writing, I am twenty-three years old, I work at a Christian radio station, and I write and make video content for YouTube in my spare time.

Devil’s Lake State Park

I’ve been writing ever since I was very young. How young? I have no idea. I just have vivid memories of writing one-page stories by hand, in a scrappy notebook, and taking those stories and hanging them up on my wall in my bedroom. They weren’t complicated, or intricate…but each one was its own separate, wonderful adventure.
Over the years, my stories would get longer, and my ideas would grow, and my imagination would soar, until I tried (several times) to write a book.

Turns out, not my strong suite.

Working the morning show at my workplace, WWIB, on Christmas Day

Writing a book, as it would appear, involves a very driven, concentrated mind. I, unfortunately, do not possess such a thing. I’d come up with a concept, and some characters, and a vague storyline. Then, I’d attempt to execute the plot. I’d try to make the characters character, and make the plot…plot. But every time, my brain exploded. I thought, “This character could do this…or this…or THIS...WAIT, WHAT IF THEY DID THAT?”

Maybe someday I could do it. Until then, I needed an outlet for my creative writing abilities. Fast.

So, instead of writing a ficticious story, about a made-up character (who was always based on a real-life character anyways), why not just write my own stories?

Devil’s Lake State Park…can you tell I love this place?

So, here we are. Here I am. Here you are. Enjoy these excerpts of my life, and try to keep up as I learn things along the way. Maybe I’ll make mistakes that you can avoid, or maybe I’ll learn something abstract enough that you won’t find that lesson anywhere but here.

And, don’t forget – keep those eyes to the hills.
